About Mike

MomDad20GKidseditedElected in 2010, Sen. Mike Green represents the 31st District in the Michigan Senate, including Arenac, Bay, Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola Counties. Following the 2014 election, the district will encompass Bay, Lapeer and Tuscola Counties.

A retired General Motors skilled tradesman, former farmer and small business owner, Sen. Green previously served in public office as a county commissioner and state representative.

He has been married to his wife Paula for 47 years. They have 5 children and 20 grandchildren.

Since being elected to the state Senate, Sen. Green has proven to be a conservative leader on issues involving agriculture, conservation and natural resources, the state budget, property tax reform, environmental regulation reform, welfare reform, and crime victims’ rights, among others.

Known as the foremost defender of the Second Amendment in the state, Sen. Green has also led efforts to introduce a Balanced Budget Amendment to the United States Constitution and force Washington, D.C. politicians to do the job they were elected to do.

As a legislator, he has been recognized for his leadership by Michigan Agri-Business Association, Farm Bureau, the National Federation of Independent Business, Michigan United Conservation Clubs, the Safari Club International Flint Chapter, FFA, Michigan Milk Producers, Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners, Human Development Commission, Michigan Aquaculture Association, health care professionals and many more.

As a small business owner involved in the construction business and as a farmer, Sen. Green knows personally how big government regulations stifle economic growth and job creation.

As a father and grandfather, he supports traditional family values and wants a Michigan where his kids and grandkids can get a good-paying job if they choose.

As our State Senator, he will continue to fight for our values and be our voice in Lansing.
