I am pleased to announce this week that I have received the endorsements of locally-elected county sheriffs and an organization representing thousands of police officers.
Lapeer County Sheriff Ron Kalanquin, Tuscola County Sheriff Lee Teschendorf and Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard – all Republicans – announced their endorsement this week of my re-election to represent Bay, Lapeer and Tuscola counties in the Michigan Senate.
I also received the endorsement of the Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM), an organization that advocates for its 12,000 member officers.
These endorsements are in addition to the support I received earlier this year from Michigan’s chief law enforcement officer, Attorney General Bill Schuette.
It is an honor to be endorsed by conservative public safety leaders who work to protect their citizens’ constitutional rights and by local police officers who put their lives on the line each and every day to keep our communities safe.
While serving in the Michigan Senate, I have led successful legislative efforts to strengthen crime victims’ rights and to enhance the Second Amendment rights of Michigan citizens. I have also strongly supported the passage of sound public safety policy related to crimes against senior citizens, human trafficking, the illegal use of firearms, poaching and more.
As we continue to move Michigan towards its best and brightest days ahead, I look forward to working with these leaders to improve the safety and security of our local communities while preserving the constitutional freedoms we hold so dear.
