Incumbent Republican rated A+ by NRA, MCRGO
The National Rifle Association – Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) announced that it has issued a sole endorsement in the 31st District Senate race to Republican state Senator Mike Green. The endorsement was accompanied by an A+ rating of Green, the highest a candidate can receive.
The NRA endorsement and rating followed the recent announcement of an A+ rating for Green by the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO), the state’s largest gun rights group.
“The Second Amendment is the constitutional right that protects all others,” Green commented. “Regardless of what other issues we may face as a state, preserving freedom must always be a priority.”
“I am honored to have the support of the NRA-PVF and will continue to champion the rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen and women.”
Green is known as the foremost champion of Second Amendment issues in the Legislature. As a state representative, he sponsored Michigan’s “shall issue” concealed pistol license (CPL) law. As a state senator, he has continued to lead on pro-gun reforms, including the recent legalization of short-barreled firearms for those who comply with applicable federal rules. He chairs the Senate Second Amendment Caucus and serves as co-chair of the Michigan Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus. In these roles, he works in the Legislature on behalf of gun owners, hunters, anglers and trappers.
Neither of Green’s opponents in the Republican primary received a rating by MCRGO, while one was given a B- by NRA-PVF, an unusually low rating for a Republican candidate.
Green is seeking to represent Bay, Lapeer and Tuscola counties for a second term in the Michigan Senate. More information on his campaign is available at www.mikegreenforsenate.com.
